How We Worship
We worship together streaming and in-person every Sunday morning at 10am in a variety of ways:
Worship
Central to our expression of faith, is our worship gathering every Sunday at 10AM. The tradition of worshipping on the first day of the week was established by Jesus in that he rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, and by his habit of meeting with his disciples on the first day of the week. We celebrate the life of Jesus in us through music, interactive teaching, the celebration of communion and baptism, and prayer. Our atmosphere is casual and joyful and our coffee is always
Baptism
We believe that baptism is required of every believer as an act of obedience to Jesus, as an initiation rite into the family God and a public declaration of faith. The deep, historic symbolism of baptism is that we are dead to our old life and “buried” in the water as in a grave. And we are raised in new life and are pulled out of the waters of baptism, as if bursting from the grave and the bonds of death. While the ritual of baptism does not in itself save a person, it is in many respects, one of the very first acts of obedience for new believers. To that end, we believe that the waters of baptism are to be entered into upon the credible profession of faith by the believer and through full immersion.
Communion
Communion, sometimes called, the Lord’s Table, the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist, etc. is a sacred meal given by Jesus to all believers to remember his death and resurrection, and to proclaim his resurrection to the world until his return. Communion has deep roots in the Jewish celebration of Passover and is a time of both celebration and reflection. We celebrate because the burden of sin has been lifted from us and the divine life of Jesus flows through us. Yet we remember that the divine life we experience came with a great cost, that is, the crucifixion of Jesus on our behalf. Because of that, we reflect, we keep our accounts short with God and man (confession), we recognize the presence of Christ in the body of Christ (his people), and we anticipate the Marriage Feast of the Lamb (Jesus and his church) that will be celebrated upon Christ’s return. Imagine the greatest wedding reception/feast you’ve ever been to!
Wine, Worship, Wednesday
On the 3rd Wednesday of every month from April-October we get together for a special celebration as a community. These events include wine tastings, fellowship, and music from many different Quad City area musicians.
